He elaborated educational system; his pedagogical achievements influenced much on the world culture and pedagogy in general. His methodology combined “education” (class and task system) and “upbringing” processes (creation of a collective with human interrelation system based on common cause). He considered punishment as non-ethical and non-pedagogical method.
In view that people have different natural skills and genotype of a born man is impossible to change, the main task of an educator is to correct orientation to learning and use own possibilities.

He pioneered an unusual pedagogical system based on humanism and recognizing child’s personality as the highest value that upbringing and education processes must be focused on. Sukhomlynsky developed a complex esthetic program of “upbringing with beauty”. Sukhomlynsky is an author of more than 30 books and more than 500 articles dedicated to youth upbringing and education. Memorial to Sukhomlynsky was installed in Pavlysh Secondary School (Kirovohrad).
