Welcome to the only museum in Ukraine representing a distinct regional school of Volyn icon painting - Museum of Volyn Icon (Volyn local history museum in Lutsk).
More than 1 500 monuments of sacred art, over 600 icons of XVI-XIX century in particular, metal and plastic items (icon covers, church utensils, icons), decorative carving (royal gates, icon cases) and sculptures are waiting for you. The collection creation is associated with the name of a famous Ukrainian art critic Paul Zholtovsky (1904-1986) who chaired scientific expeditions of Volyn local history museum of 1980s on learning and collecting historical and cultural monuments in churches of Volyn.
Here you will see a priceless pearl of the museum that attracts pilgrims from all over the world - Chelm miraculous icon of the Mother of God, a unique monument of Byzantine art of XI century, one of the most revered Christian shrines. The icon can be seen in a separate hall where both excursions and services are performed.
The museum of Volyn icon is known in Ukraine and abroad both due to its unique exposition and scientific, research and organization work. Every year research conferences are organized in the museum.
