Hurry to meet a place, where the Noble Prize winner - a writer Josef Agnon was born and the father of psycho-analysis Sigmund Freud was conceived. Only there You will be able to see with Your own eyes the wonderful “visit cards” of Ukrainian baroque, over the miraculous beauty of which are imperious neither people, nor time. Come to the motherland of castles, temples and architecture monuments – the city of Buchach (is situated some 100 kilometers from Ternopil).

On the bottom of a deep canyon, in an old town under protection of hills You will see the pearls of Ukrainian architecture – the Cathedral and Town Hall (which is today the most beautiful administrative building in Europe).
These Ukrainian treasures were created by the best masters of that time – Lviv architect Bernard Meretin and a genial German sculptor Johann Georg Pinsel (who’s talent was compared with that of Michelangelo).

Thanks to their creative union the famous Cathedral of St. Yuriy in Lviv was also born. A bold project, extraordinary solutions, refined forms, a play of lights and shadows and unique sculptures created an unrepeatable architectural ensemble. Here You can find a harmonic combination of the antique, biblical plots and images from Ukrainian life: next to Themis and Neptune sits a Cossack, smoking a pipe, and next to David, killing Goliath – a slave, breaking the chains. The secret of a harmony is simple: You have to hear the God in Yourself, do not step aside from the way of the struggle against eternal evil and injustice.

Being there use the chance to admire the remains of old castles. Buchach Castle (XIVAD) was a family estate of count Potocky. By means of this family were created all the attractions of the city. Walking there You can imagine the majesty of the castle with its parade gate, balance-bridge, a beautiful fountain and endless labyrinths of underground passes, which connected it with nearby standing castles and monasteries. It was one of the secrets of castle’s invulnerability, which honorably endured many sieges and assaults. Under remaining walls You can try Yourself in a role of a “seeker of treasures”; among these treasures could be even the golden coach of Potockies.
Not far from there You can find another ancient castle – “Zolotyj Potik” (“The Golden Stream”). Its name is connected with the story about a local traitor, who during a siege by tartars offered them the plan of the secret pass in exchange for one hundred of golden coins. The tartars captured the castle and killed all the inhabitants, but melted the promised coins and inundated the gold into the traitor’s mouth.
