Kamianets-Podilskyi

You are invited by one of the most ancient cities of Ukraine, a museum in the open air, the only one in the world a city-fortress located on a small Peninsula.
A deep canyon and created picturesque pedestal opens you a rock and its beautiful stone flower-city Kamianets-Podilskyi (Khmelnytsyi region).
You are going to see medieval fortifications remained until present times; the only one on a planet a castle bridge built along the river not across it (the bridge unites two right banks of the Smotrych River); amazing architecture buildings such as the Dominican Monastery (built by monastic order) and Cathedral kostel of Sts. Peter and Paul, prime Apostles.

Its ensemble includes a kostel, a bell tower, triumph gates and Turkish minaret with a statue to Virgin Mary (standing on a globe and a half-moon she has 12 stars’ nimbus around her head). You will visit a famous town hall that is a center of political life. Its balcony served as a place of order and verdicts’ proclaiming that were subjects to be immediately executed on the square. You will be charmed by a botanic garden presenting hundreds of species of plants brought from all over the world.  Welcome to a royal city that in the XIV century got privileges of Magdeburg Law; opened the first coffee-house two years earlier than in Vienne; saw the first balloons (in XVIII century). About half a century the city was an administrative and culture center of Western Ukraine. Currently, it is a leader by quantity of historic monuments and festivals held (one of them is military-historical festival “Terra Heroica”).

Its gratitude to the founders the city expresses in a history wheel laid above a precipice opposite the castle. Its stone block shows the names of seven peoples who participated in the city foundation: Lithuanians, Poles, Ukrainians, Russians, Armenians, Turks and Jews…
However, there are stones without any scripture. Kamianets is waiting for other heroes. Maybe, this very hero is you?..
