The Lake Synevir

Have you ever looked in the eyes of the world?
Present yourself the unforgettable feeling from the magic look of "marine eye of Carpathians" - lake Synevir. The lake with the small island in the middle, from the height of birds-eye-view, looks as the real eye with fluffy cilia from fir-trees, which is looking attentively at everyone, who is approaching it (Zakarpattia Region).

This charmingly beautiful place keeps sorrowful history of
its origin. You will know that once here lived a beautiful woman Syn’ (boundless sky was reflected in her blue eyes) and she fell in love with poor shepherd Vir. By the order of her rich father who did not want to allow misalliance, a shepherd was pushed away from the mountain. Syn’ couldn’t iamgine her life without a darling, hugged him and began to cry. And cried until the lake of tears did not gulp them down. And so they forever stayed together, and unearthly force of their love continues to live - the lake Synevir gives love to all, who sincerely is asking for this. It is considered a very good sign to arrive here with a favourite man – you will never part with him and be happy the whole life.

Arriving here you get in other world, that is living in harmony with natural laws. Birds speak with you, and there is a lot of frisking fish in a mirror lake, that you will want to walk on water. And if you scrutinize the reflection of mountains on the mirror smooth surface of the lake, you will notice that it is more clear, than their appearance in reality!


The lake keeps many legends. Near the island, on a depth more than 40 meters, treasures of Tatars are hidden, but you do not need to risk and search it, in fact it is dangerous to swim here (many people drowned in the lake).

Majestic and wonderful, the lake lives by its own rules. Every morning, waking up, it appears from fog. In the day-time it dozes as though thinking about something global, but constantly you are not being abandoned by feeling, that it watches you.

Here is the reign of calmness, silense and some special unity with Universe, which you are able to feel only if you are ready to understand better the world around you, yourself – and do not be frightened by these.
