Poltava region

Welcome to Poltava region, a land having unique natural resources. Here you will see primordial 350-400 millions’ Parasotsky forests with majestic trees, mushrooms, berries and numerous medicinal herbs. You are invited by heroic Poltava and its State Historical and Cultural Reserve «The Field of the Great Poltava Battle». Here you are going to see a pearl in baroque the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Monastery (a former residence of the Swedish king Charles XII), a museum of Ivan Kotlyarevsky, the first classical-writer of new Ukrainian literature; and a famous local history museum.
Charming silence of inimitable marvelous Ukrainian nature will show you memorial complex-estate of the great philosopher and poet Hryhoriy Skovoroda (Chernukhi village) and museum-reserve of Nikolai Gogol (Gogolevo village). You will also see a patrimony, a birthplace of the great writer (historical documents helped to reconstruct patrimony interior in details). Visiting the place you will surely understand why spirit of unique Ukrainian culture ran through his works. Coming to Poltavshchyna you can visit a ceramics center of Ukraine Oposhnya village. It offers you to drop in the open air big gallery of the museum of pottery. You cannot but be surprised by numerous unusual ceramics.
You are to meet a colorful village Dikanka where you can see giant oaks (higher than 200 meters and older than 800 years), a wooden Saint Nicholas church with a miracle Sain Nicholas icon, and historical and architecture complex “Christmas Eve” (of the same name work of Gogol’). There you will feel inimitable atmosphere of a real Ukrainian village. Moreover, you can visit spa and resort city of Myrhorod, famous Sorochyntsi fair and numerous wooden, leather and straw artworks of prominent and popular in the world craftsmen.
